There is a level of serenity you find when you embrace your depth as a beautiful thing, when you are no longer afraid that others will drown in the ocean of your soul. When you accept that you are overflowing with richness, connect to your spirituality on a cosmic level and truly open your eyes to the world.. everything changes. You see clearly, without the filters. You get exhausted of treading water to meet people at a surface level.
I have discovered that many people will cling to their perfunctory rafts constructed with hollow boards, they are superficial at best. People cannot meet you in your depth if they are unable to dive into their own. They fear the sharks in their own minds, shrivel away when the seaweed brushes against their skin, they have not learned to breathe the salt water into their lungs without choking.
There is a serenity to embracing your depth as a beautiful thing, but there is also a profound loneliness in it. To exist in this part of yourself, you must transform. You grow gills, your hands and feet become webbed, you adapt to the waters that surround you. Once you have taken this plunge, you cannot go back to ordinary. You may rise to the surface but you can never walk the sandy beaches the same way. This is often a solitary existence. You may have friends, family, even lovers.. but those who cannot walk the ocean floor with you will never understand you in your entirety. Your introspection and complexity is nuanced, it is life giving and it is isolating.
There is a great joy in finding a kindred spirit, it is the epitome of relief to been recognized. To truly be seen and appreciated is a gift that I am happy to give and one that I was afraid I would never receive.
